Pebbles Patch Where Friendships Grow

Late last year the staff and residents in our memory support unit at Casey Aged Care decided to start their very own vegetable garden growing corn, zucchinis and beans.

The work was completed by our residents with only little assistance from the lifestyle staff. When asked, Wendy the Lifestyle Coordinator commented “The daily watering and weeding of our garden has created many opportunities for our residents to reminisce. They have sensory time from the beginning of the process to the end and spend quality time with the staff. The residents enjoyed picking, peeling, cooking and eating exactly what they have grown and they are already planning what will be planted next”.
